More life drawing

Monday's offerings, had a bad session but the last 3 took shape thankfully. Enjoy

Tuesday 18 August 2009

15 minutes each.

This pose was Arthur's idea, he's mid 60's and can still stand on his head, as solid as a rock, for 4 minutes. A tricky drawing but it totally makes you think outside the box on how to draw someone upside down.

More Life Drawing

Ello, just a few pics from Monday night's life drawing class. I think I had a good session, I definately feel like I'm improving. Trying to losen up my hand a lot and to not be so rigid. Anyway feel free to crit :)

Wednesday 22 July 2009

I was going through my old sketchbook the other night and saw some old stuff I had done back in my Uni days and just after. It's made me want to pick up my pencil again and start drawing in my free time, especially before the wee bairn comes!

The torso is way too long here but I like the arm and hand. 15 minutes.

15 minutes

15 minutes, bloody perspective!
Well it's been a while since i attended the life drawing classes that work are running due to a massive load of overtime. I thought it was going to be a dissaster but to be fair I was quite happy with some of the results. Obviously there are some scale issues going on but for my first life drawing class in about 2 months I'm quite happy.

Gobelin's Annecy Stings

Well it's been a while, things here at work are pretty busy as our deadline looms but I saw this and was just totally and utterly inspired. I don't know how they do it, there has to be something in the water over there in France and I want some.....I have money..... but check this out, it was my favourate.

You can then see more of the Gobelins Annecy stings here http://www.gobelins.fr/galerie/animation/

Enjoy!

Great news

Well it's been a while since i posted last but I bring great news with me, my wife is pregnant and I am going to be a Dad. Came as a massive shock to us both as we weren't trying but we're certainly really happy. Due date is November 1st so I really need to cram in some animation before the baby is born and I forget what free time was.
Also I have started attending life drawing classes that are being run by our company and are going well. It's been a long gap since I last did life drawing but now I am I am really loving it. I will post pics up soon so you can see the progress I have been making.

Norman rig get's set free

How fantastic, the Acedemy of Arts has just made the Norman rig free for everyone to dowload. After years of drooling at how I wish I could get my hands on that rig I now have the opportunity to play with it till my hearts content. It seems this has come about due to the Pixar masterclass, that the college ran, has now been disbanded and so they have released this rig for the CG community to enjoy. I'm just looking forward to the Bishop rig becoming available now..........for some reason I think I have a long wait on my hands :(

Too busy to work :(

As currently posted I said that I would be entering the Spline Doctors animation contest but due to time restrictions, wives birthday's and a new computer which has failed to arrive I think I may have to bow out of this competition and either wait for another or work on my own idea.
One of the other reasons I have shied away from this is the ammount of profanity that this sound bite has, I mean I'm not shy of the cuss word, but I do know that it's a big no no to have swearing on your reel and this is something that I would have liked to have shown off. I know I could have had it beeped out but it's all a bit too much work to do. So yeah I shall post something soon, well whenever I get this new computer.

Friday 6 February 2009

Here's some art work I did a while back, i really need to get back into this. This is a bit of cheating as I painted over a picture but I was trying a new style.

The Spline Doctors Animation Challenge

Damn, just when I say that I'm going to have a break from any dialogue animation the Spline Doctors have posted a challenge. It's to animate Christian Bale's meltdown that has the internet all excited today. There's plenty of time on this which is really appealing to me, more time to stroy board, animate, and tinker and pollish. Yep, I think I shall have a go at this.

www.11seondclub.com

Here's my effort for this month's 11second club entry, January 09. To be honest i'm not hugely happy with it, i intend to come back to it and clean up the things that aren't working like the suit case and the lyp sync. Time ran out and the lesson learned this month was that i need to start sooner, with a full time job I found it hard to find the time, but my wife was great for letting me have the weekends to do the work.
I think I shall miss this months challenge and give myself a well deserved break.

Well i've finally got myself a blog, all shiny and new. In the next few weeks and months i'm hoping to out up a lot of my work. Animations, sketches and illustrations so watch this place.
